In 1998 the RePaint Program began in the UK. The goal was to redistribute paint that would ordinarily wind up in the trash to civic organizations for reuse. Paint is collected in hardware stores and hundreds of collection points throughout the country. In 2010 they managed to prevent 316,641 liters of paint from winding up in the trash. Over 215,000 liters of paint were distributed to community groups, charities, voluntary organizations and people in social need.
In the UK and the USA, there are even stores that sell used paint. It makes you wonder about the huge amount of paint that goes to waste... We have yet to find an example of these sorts of initiatives in Mediterranean countries, but it could certainly be adapted to our context without any problem. Feel like putting this type of program together?
