RECIPES FOR FRUIT JAM
Soft fruits can be used to make jam. Each kind of fruit needs a different amount of cook time and sugar, but the process of making jam always follows these general steps:
- Select fruit which is ripe, but not over-ripe (for example, strawberries, peaches, oranges…) and chop them into cubes.
- In a pot of boiling water (approximately ¼ as much as the amount of fruit) boil the fruit (usually 15 to 20 minutes is enough), adding sugar (approximately ½ as much as the fruit).
- When it has absorbed the water and (you can see that it is an elastic mass when touching it with a finger, it is done, put it into a clean glass jar (while it is still hot).
