As a center of international cooperation between Mediterranean countries, the Regional Activity Center for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP/RAC) is working to foster innovation and develop more sustainable patterns of consumption and production within the manufacturing sector and civil society.
In pursuit of its mission the SCP/RAC leads projects promoting cleaner production in the manufacturing sector, such as the GRECO initiative. It also carries out projects in the area of green entrepreneurship and sustainable events and on sustainable consumption and production in the Mediterranean from a broader perspective. Within the sphere of civil society, the Centre has launched ConsumpediaMed, a website to promote responsible and sustainable consumption.
As a Regional Centre of the Stockholm Convention, the SCP/RAC also contributes to various projects related to persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and to the development of national implementation plans.
The Centre also actively participates in other projects jointly led by various international organizations to promote sustainable consumption and production and the sound management of chemicals in the Mediterranean. These include Horizon 2020, MedPartnership, CAMP Levante de Almeria and BAT4MED.
