4th BAT4MED PTB meeting successfully held in Barcelona

On June, 12th, the 4th Project Technical Board Meeting was held in the CP/RAC facilities, in Barcelona. Representatives from VITO, SSSUP, CEDARE, IAT and CP/RAC attended to the meeting, which took place in the afternoon and tackled specially Work Package 3 (Development of BAT sector reports), Work Package 4 (towards policy convergence in Pollution Prevention and Control).

 

The main objectives of the meeting were to discuss the development and status of the two mentioned Work Packages (WP): reviewing of completed activities and status of deliverables and also the planning for the upcoming activities.

 

VITO started the meeting providing and overview of the status of WP3 and its tasks. Special attention was given to the development of the second technical working groups meetings, held in Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco between March and April 2012. The general conclusion was positive due to an enthusiastic participation by the TWG members and the MPC. Next TWG meetings are envisaged to take place at the end of October of beginning of November 2012, when the definitive BAT assessment and selection will be discussed.

 

IAT presented the details concerning WP4, whose main objectives are to analyse and to benchmark policy and legislative frameworks regarding pollution prevention and control in the MPCs; to provide the MPCs with information on the EU integrated (IPPC) approach; to assess the possibility and the impact of diffusing the EU IPPC approach to the MPCs; and to bring together the previous experience of the EU in pollution prevention and control and the conclusions of the BAT4MED project for providing policy recommendations to support the implementation of BAT in the MPCs. Partners will start working on WP4 as from August 2012 until May 2013.

 

Finally, CEDARE presented the details on WP6, which has as main objectives to consolidate the dissemination strategy; to manage Intellectual Property Rights and knowledge ownership and to exploit and to secure the sustainability of project outputs.
