SCP/RAC and EMEA sign Partnership Agreement

The Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association (EMEA), represented by its Founder and President, Professor Rym Ayadi, and the Regional Activity Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP/RAC), represented by its Director, Enrique de Villamore, signed a Partnership Agreement on 17 November 2020.

Being an essential approach to SDG impact, the Partnership Agreement has the objective to develop innovative and cross-cutting approaches to increase the impact of SCP/RAC and EMEA in the field of green and blue economy. Combining resources, thinking and approaches will mutually benefit the two organizations in increasing critical mass needed to deliver impacts and tackle social and economic challenges in the Mediterranean Region, enabling both to deliver more and better the 2030 Agenda.

Both organizations acknowledge this partnership will raise the level of knowledge, expertise and capacity, leading to more effective work practices and greater impact.

The Regional Activity Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP/RAC) is a centre for international cooperation under the framework of two international treaties, the Barcelona Convention for the protection of the environment and the promotion of sustainable development in the Mediterranean region and the Stockholm Convention for the fight against Persistent Organic Pollutants. The Centre has the mandate, assigned by the Mediterranean countries, to promote the shift to sustainable consumption and production patterns - 12th Sustainable Development Goal - in the region. In the performance of its mandate, SCP/RAC develops its activity as component of the Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP) of the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment).

The Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association (EMEA) is an independent regional think tank specialized in socio-economic and financial developments in Europe, the Mediterranean and Africa established in Barcelona in 2012. EMEA has an international network of think tanks, research centres, academic institutions, and International experts, seeking to further develop its networks and activities in the region. EMEA builds its knowledge capacity through research initiatives focused on different cross-cutting topics linked to economics. EMEA is coordinating and is involved in several projects co-funded by the European Union and EMEA Foundation
