SCP/RAC deepening on how to provide access to finance for green businesses and sustainable entrepreneurs within the Global Eco Forum

This workshop has been one of the first efforts to deepen the understanding of and collaboration with financing institutions and initiatives. The speakers showed with concrete examples what type of financing solutions are available for small businesses and entrepreneurs that like to take up resource efficient technologies and practices.

Our speakers included Kevin E. Bortz, Director of Natural Resources Team, EBRD, Daniel Sorrosal, Policy and Advocacy Manager, FEBEA (European Federation of Ethical and Alternative Banks and Financiers) and Arnaud Pinier, CEO, smala & co and happy smala.

After their input, we had group discussions on financing needs for greening of SMEs and sustainable entrepreneurs, barriers and challenges for access and solutions in response. The groups explored food, tourism and goods manufacturing sectors.

About the GEF: The Global Eco Forum gathers opinion leaders, decision and change makers to promote dialogue and collaboration towards the sustainability of the Mediterranean region. This year edition focused on emerging global issues such as green economy, green finance, eco-entrepreneurship and sustainable resources management (raw materials, water and energy). The Eco Forums are organized annually by eco-union, an independent non-profit association.
