4th April 2012 | Updated: 12th April 2012

Within the framework of the implementation of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), especially the requirement for monitoring, the Moroccan Department of Environment (DE) in collaboration with the Convention's Regional Activity Center in Barcelona (CP/RAC) and with the financial and scientific support of the Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP), organized a workshop for the preparation of a national monitoring program for POPs.

Around 68 participants from the academic and research sectors, governments and international institutions as AMAP, UNEP or CSIC attended to the workshop which was held from 13th to 15th March in Rabat. The workshop consisted in two days of plenary sessions and one practical day in working groups in which participants developed draft monitoring plans and recommendations.
