About CP/RAC
The Regional Activity Centre for Cleaner Production (CP/RAC), based in Barcelona, Spain, was established in 1996. Its mission is to promote mechanisms leading to sustainable consumption and production patterns and sound chemicals management in Mediterranean countries. To do so, the Centre helps Mediterranean governments and enterprises to produce in an environmentally-friendly way. It addresses citizens too, so as to give them useful information and alternative ways of consumption that are less damaging to the environment.
The CP/RAC is part of the Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP), a programme to ensure the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean. The Centre is also a Regional Centre under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, a global treaty to protect human health and environment from harmful chemicals. Both the programme and the convention were established under the auspices of the United Nations Environment Programme.
