Workshop on Ecotourism as an Opportunity for Sustainable Development in Boka Kotorska, 30th of Jan – 1st of Feb 2014, Kotor

In the framework of Coastal Area of Montenegro (CAMP Montenegro) a three day Workshop was held in Boka Kotorska on Ecotourism aimed to explore the opportunities for sustainable development of the highly vulnerable micro region of Boka Kotorska Bay while achieving its  good environmental status. UNEP/MAP regional activity centers SCP/RAC, SPA/RAC, PAP/RAC and MEDPOL programme, in cooperation with Ministry for Sustainable Development and Tourism of Montenegro, organized this event in order to contribute in creating National Strategy for Integrated Coastal Zone Management of Montenegro.

Jordan hosted a H2020 workshop on Green Finance

A sub-regional workshop on Green Finance took place in Amman (Jordan) the 28-29th of January with more than 30 Jordanian, Egyptian and Lebanese delegates from Ministries, banks, academia and NGOs.  The workshop, organized by SCP/RAC in the framework of the EC funded H2020 CB/MEP project, was designed to include both theoretical and practical sessions on the financing of the Green Economy.

Albania hosted a new workshop on PCBs Management

More than 50 participants attended the workshop on Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) management organized by SCP/RAC and MEDPOL, with the support of the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Water Administration of Albania, in Tirana (Albania) in January 21-24th 2014.

Barcelona hosts the meeting on the impacts of marine litter in the European Seas

On 23th-24th January, the Catalan Waste Agency (Barcelona) hosts the CleanSea Project meeting, an interdisciplinary project of the FP7 of the European Union leaded by the VU University Amsterdam in collaboration, among others, of the EUCC Mediterranean Centre.

First interviews of key Mediterranean Policy Makers for the SWITCH-Med Programme now available on-line

During the 18th Conference of Parties of the Barcelona Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and Coastal Region of the Mediterranean that took place in Istanbul on 3-6th of December, the SCP/RAC delegation interviewed key Mediterranean Policy Makers and international institutions, under the framework of the EC funded SWITCH-Med Policy Component. The following question was asked:
